Newark, N.J.-Sept. 24, 2026 -- We are pleased to announce that WebMD Health Corp., in partnership with ZERO Prostate Cancer, has been approved for a funding award through the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award Program, an initiative of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The funds will support the dissemination of patient-centered comparative effectiveness research findings on quality-of-life outcomes following treatment for localized prostate cancer.

Lindsey Gardner, MPP, Director, Public Health, will lead the engagement project at WebMD Health Corp., conducted by Medscape Education. CEASAR and NC ProCESS remain among the most comprehensive population-based studies ever conducted on patient-reported quality of life after prostate cancer treatment, yet that evidence has been slow to reach the point of care.

Medscape Education and ZERO Prostate Cancer will bring complementary strengths to the initiative: Medscape's educational infrastructure and audience of more than 2.8 million clinicians, paired with ZERO Prostate Cancer’s national reach and deeply rooted patient-centered mission. On a mission to improve and save lives from prostate cancer through advocacy, awareness, education, and support, ZERO Prostate Cancer brings critical attention to those most impacted by the disease and meets clinicians where they are with programs that increase early detection, effective treatment, survival, and long-term health. Originally established in 1996 as the National Prostate Cancer Coalition, ZERO Prostate Cancer brings decades of experience standing up for patients and families.

Together, the organizations will co-develop a multidisciplinary faculty discussion of the trial findings, a patient documentary to humanize treatment trade-offs, and an AI-digital reinforcement tool to extend learning beyond the initial activity.

“This project will bridge that gap for Medscape's clinician community by turning trial findings into practical, free continuing education, giving clinicians the tools to bring patient-reported outcomes directly into shared decision-making conversations,” said Lindsey Gardner, MPP, Director, Public Health.

Patients, caregivers, and advocates will be engaged as equal participants from kickoff through evaluation—ensuring the authentic patient perspective is integrated into every stage of the program. ZERO Prostate Cancer holding shared decision-making authority alongside clinical faculty on every piece of content produced.

“ZERO is committed to making sure patients’ voices shape every decision made about their care. Partnering with WebMD on this PCORI‑funded initiative allows us to bring patient‑reported outcomes directly into the conversations that matter most; the ones happening between men and their clinicians. CEASAR and NC ProCESS offer powerful evidence about how treatment choices impact quality of life, and this collaboration ensures that information finally reaches the point of care. By combining Medscape’s reach with ZERO’s patient‑centered mission, we’re helping clinicians and families navigate treatment options with clarity, compassion, and shared decision‑making at the forefront,” said Brian Bragg, Chief Mission Officer, ZERO Prostate Cancer.

The Disseminating PCORI-Funded Study Results on Patient-Reported Quality of Life to Support Shared Decision-Making in Localized Prostate Cancer is part of a portfolio of projects funded by PCORI to help develop a community of patients, caregivers, clinicians and other stakeholders who are better equipped to engage as partners in all phases of patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) and to disseminate results of PCORI-funded studies. Through its Engagement Award Program, PCORI is creating an expansive network of individuals, communities and organizations who can leverage their lived experience and expertise to influence research to be more patient-centered, relevant and useful.
