Overview: Tyrvaya is used to treat dry eyes. It works by stimulating nerves in the nose that trigger the eyes to make more tears. The most common side effects are cough, nose or throat irritation, and sneezing. Call your health care provider right away if you have swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or trouble breathing. Tyrvaya is used differently than most nasal sprays, so it is important to read the instructions for use before using it for the first time.

How does Tyrvaya work (mechanism of action)?

Tyrvaya works by binding with certain receptors in the nose, called nicotinic receptors. By binding with these receptors, Tyrvaya activates a specific nerve pathway that increases the amount of tear film created by the eye. This can help treat the symptoms of dry eye.
