Overview: Isembyld is used to treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). It blocks a protein that limits muscle growth, which may help muscles grow and work better. Common side effects include infections, sore throat, vomiting, cough, and headache. Isembyld may increase the risk of broken bones, including serious fractures that can sometimes happen without a fall or injury. Contact your health care provider if you have new or severe bone pain. Isembyld is given as an infusion into a vein (IV) by a health care provider.

Uses

What is Isembyld used for?

Isembyld (apitegromab-mstn) is commonly used to treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), which is an inherited condition that causes muscles to weaken over time.

How Isembyld Can Help With Spinal Muscular Atrophy

How does Isembyld work (mechanism of action)?

Isembyld works by blocking myostatin, a protein that normally limits muscle growth. Isembyld attaches to inactive myostatin and helps keep it from becoming active. This may help muscles grow and work better in people with SMA.

How is Isembyld supplied (dosage forms)?

Isembyld is available in an injectable form that is given by a health care provider.

How should I store Isembyld?
