I have experienced weight gain, stomach bloating, stomach pain, as well as continued flare ups with diarrhea, and immediate need to have a BM.

I was prescribed Lialda a week ago Monday (it is now Friday). It was a week to pretty much the exact hour that I started having side effects. The first week it was like nothing had changed. Then on Monday I had one round of diarrhea. On Tuesday I had diarrhea all day (10-20 times per day) plus fever, chills, and muscle aches. We thought I had the flu. On Wednesday I had the same symptoms plus I started throwing up. I had absolutely no appetite and was severely dehydrated, but it was difficult to... drink water because if I had one sip too many I would throw up. Then on Thursday I felt slightly better. I had a lower fever, but my diarrhea had become bloody. No longer thinking it was the flu, I called my doctor and told him about the bloody diarrhea to which he asked if I was also experiencing abdominal pain, fever, or chills. Bingo. I went to my primary care physician today as ordered where he told me to get off lialda and he prescribed a corticosteroid. I also had to go do a stool sample so they can try and find out what went wrong. I am SO happy I can stop taking it, but I'm not sure how long it will take before I no longer have these side effects. I just feel bad because it cost $40 with insurance and I only had 11 days' worth. Read More Read Less

I've recently had a flare up with my illness and the dr. that is taking care of my problem just recently raised my dose of Apriso from 4 caplets a day to 8 caplets a day which total 3000 mg. daily,,,is that too high of a dose to take?

On it for 2 weeks as a sample and what a difference! no symptoms at all so far! I picked up my first prescription and although it is expensive, my doctor gave me a savings/discount card just for Apriso-first one is free and only 10$ a month after that, and that is with my insurance too! Ask your doctor about the discount card-I didn't even ask, they just gave it to me with the samples

I have been taking 6 400 mg Asacol pills for many years with good results. Have been told Asacol is no longer manufactured and substitutions have not proved effective.

I have Ulcerative Colitis and took Asacol for 1 year until manufacturer recommended switching to this. These are a little harder to swallow, but they do seem to dissolve more thoroughly. I have not noticed any difference in therapy outcome. I take 8 tabs a day (3,3,2) and I would like to decrease, but even though symptoms have mostly relieved, my SED level is still elevated. Will continue on this. So far, no problems or concerns 3 months into it. Transitioned fine.

I have Collagenous Colitis. I took Lialda for nearly a year on and off as prescribed. I ended up in the hospital for 10 days (never in before except childbirth) with DIL (drug induced Lupus). A horrible experience. One should be told of this possible side effect. It's now 4 months ago and I'm still recovering.

This medication is not as effective as Asacol. I am six weeks into taking this medication and my symptoms are not any better. When I was using Asacol symptoms cleared within two weeks.

The capsules are a little bit harder to swallow than the caplets, but apparently they completely dissolve when and where they're supposed to, unlike the previous form of Asacol tablets.

This medication has worked as well as Asacol. Only major issue is the cost. I paid $464 for a one month supply.
