Was put on this medication after being sick for WEEKS and finding out i have ulcerative colitis along my entire large colon. Dr told me to take 4.8gr a day to initiate remission (4 pills)until furter notice. Yes the pills are quite large, but if you take them with plenty of water, it's really not that big of a deal. I am hoping that once i have been in remission for a while, my Dr will put me on the 'maintenance' does, which is only 2 pills. The pills are also kind of expensive. BUT, if you go t... o the Lialda manufacturer website, you can print out a coupon that will only cost you $10 a month! Less than a bottle of aspirin. I have yet to experience ANY side effects of this drug and it has been 16 days. I also noticed an improvement in symotoms within only a few days. I will write another review once I have been on them a bit longer if i experience anything different. Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed 3 years ago with UC. Apriso put me in remission, but my hair began falling out in chunks. I had a lot of hair before being on Apriso. I reduced my dosage from 4 pills a day to 3 and then 2, but cannot maintain remission on 2. My hair is still falling out. Compared to three years ago, I am bald. I am working with my gastro to switch medication.

I was diagnosed at 40 with U.C.after 6 months of pain and horrible bleeding.I found at the start it worked but as I got confident again about eating foods my condition started back up again it works but it makes me tired and bit dizzy everyday I am careful when driving because of its effect.A controlled diet and medication leaves me weak.I would find any type of mental exam hard because of memory loss.I live day by day in the slow lane and accept its better than all those horrible flare ups an r... unning to the toilet its not perfect but a little easier to live with a socially unacceptable disease the best of luck to any one with this condition Read More Read Less

I started taking Lialda for a UC flare up. Within 2 days of taking it, my UC symptoms had worsened ten fold! This is a horrible drug that made me even sicker. My doctor took me off of it right away. Mesalamine should be banned!!! Don't take anything with Mesalamine in it, it's like poison!

I took Asacol for a couple of months due to my first big UC flare up. The Asacol made my symptoms WORSE. It made me even more sick and I ended up in the hospital. This drug is like a poison to many people, with some experiencing kidney problems and worse! This is a horrible, horrible drug.

I was diagnosed in July with Crohn's. My doctor originally put me on 2 a day. Although my episodes were less frequent they were at least 10 times more severe. Since taking this drug my abdominal pain during my episodes have literally left me paralyzed in pain, to the point where I can't move until the pain subsides. Now after recently taking a blood test after 6 months of this drug my doctor said the results show I have extreme inflammation so clearly, this is making my Crohn's worse. My hair is... now starting to fall out after about 7 months of use, and I'm only 19. Overall I would avoid this drug at all costs, my doctor wants me to take 4 a day now but I refuse to, I'm currently looking into other options. Read More Read Less

Why does Pentasa stain the toilet and give the appearance that one is urinating blood. The urine is clear but the toilet looks like I have lost blood. Tests have found nothing wrong with kidneys or bladder. Is the urine/pentasa chemically reacting to toilet cleaners?

I take 2 500 mg of pentasa 4 times a day. This drug seems to work well for me when I remember to take it. I am looking for an alternate drug to take for my Crohn's because I cannot afford the price of this medicine. Why does Pentasa have to be so expensive? Is there another good drug out there for Crohn's that won't put me in the poor house?

Recently diagnosed with UC and was immediately put on Asacol. Was in the hospital twice in six weeks. Once I started the Asacol after leaving the hospital my symptoms got worse. I have been healthier for the last two weeks only being on prednisone. About to start Apriso, hopefully I have better luck.
