Was diagnosed last year with "undefinitive UC" Dr. can't tell if it's UC or Chrons, a bit of both so started me on Lialda. Began with 4 pills a day, down to 2, since then broke my shoulder & foot so had to be on Steroids, since then have gained weight from shoulders to hips and can't seem to loose it. Both shoulders ache most of the time, but I also work on a computer most of the day. Overall it is easy to maintain with Lialda, but will make sure I monitor with blood work.

Been diagnosed with UC since I was 18. Mesalamine never really worked when I used to flare up. Then I started using cannabis. Yep, weed proved to be a great anti-inflammatory. Literally no symptoms for the past 15 years. I urge anyone to try cannabis as an anti-inflammatory.

I had 4 ft of my large intestines removed when I was very young. Over the last 15 years or more, have been having severe mid-stomach/lower bowel pains. Had endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy. All is good but inflammed colon. Doc put me on this medicine but after taking, it seems to make me feel very bloated. Anyone else experiencing this side effect?

Taking it with Humira. My condition was too severe and Lialda wasn't strong enough. Along with Humira, this drug can treat my disease.

I was diagnosed with UC over 20 years ago. Had been taking Asacol until 2 months ago (my insurance quit paying for it). I am doing fine on the Apriso but it is way to expensive. With insurance I still had to pay $110 for a months supply. I am working with my Dr to change what I am taking,

Pentasa helped me achieved remission. It was difficult to take though with the four pills in the morning and four at night.

I was hospitalized with a severe attack of ulcerative colitis. While there a doctor started me on Lialda: 1.2 mg X 4 daily. Since then I have been clear of colitis for 6 months. The only aftereffects have been an occasional rush to the toilet when the urge starts.

Pentasa has been my go to drug, I started on Pentasa when it first came out, and is when I was first diagnosed. New GI drs would rather have me on something where the side effects are death, my crohns is mild to near nothing. I can effectively keep it under control if I follow the SCD diet and take the gluten, sugar, corn, and rice out of my diet I do very well. I will always have Pentasa around, it does what it says for me and that is what I say to my dr. To the person who asked about the Ca... nada Pentasa, I had to buy it there some 7 years ago, the tablets were big and a little hard to get down but they seemed to work. I was glad when I had insurance coverage again though, but would go back if I had to. Read More Read Less

My company is dropping healthcare for its retirees and beginning next year my Pentasa will cost way more than I can afford. Have any of you tried Canadian Pentasa? It comes in a tablet and is far, far less expensive? Help?

Diagnosed in July with UC After 20 days on Apriso, had flu like myalgia, arthralgis and significant fatigue. Now, after being off the med for 19 days, I still have the same symptoms and am feeling much worse. Shouldn't this go away after almost 3 weeks of not taking the med?? I felt so bad, I went to the ER with negative results for any other problem

I took apriso for 3 months with good results, my intestinal ulcers' pain quit. Then I deveoloped intolerance to apriso, with abdominal pain, fatigue, and depression. I cut back to 1 a day with a meal in the evening and still have stomach pain during the night and day. I think I will stop taking it. I also take Budesonide.

Ive been on this for a couple months. Recently ive developed muscle and joint pain. It feels as though someone hit me across the chest with a baseball bat. I have trouble sleeping flat too. I hate to stop taking it because its does a great job on my UC symptoms. I started on lialda but cant afford that.

I had a reaction to this drug the first time I took it and even a greater reaction to it the next time I took it. It put me in bed for two days. I'm sure it is ok for those who don't react to it in a negative way.

I'm 28 and was diagnosed with UC 6 months ago. I started on Apriso immediately. I misread the dosage and have been taking 1 pill in the am instead 4. My symptoms have gone away except for a couple of instances within 6 months. My gastroenterologist was pleasantly surprised at my success on such low dosage . Only side effect for me is slight nausea througout the day if I dont eat small meals throughout. Also, as advised do not stay in direct sunlight for long periods of time or you will develop ... a Migraine like no other. High sun sensitivity. Read More Read Less

This med contains sulfasalazine. I am allergic to sulfa and apparently to this derivative. I did not feel at all well the three days I took it and developed a rash and a big blister. Yes,I did advise my doctor of my sulfa allergy.

reviewing for my daughter. Pentasa has kept her crohns in check for 5 years with very few flare-ups and none serious. another reason I think she is doing so well is because she is an athlete and is very fit.

Since I have been on this medication, I rarely have flare ups. I take 800 mg twice a day.
