I just started Lialda, my doctor wanted me to switch from Asocal(6)per day. So far, I'm feeling a little tired and for some reason urine is dark at times, nausea, & at times upset stomache. Other than that I haven't developed any other side effects. Time will tell if they will subside or get worse. I'm hopeful by the feedback I've been reading.

Causes excessive diarhea; does't help Crohn's symptoms at all.

I am a 56 yr. old female recently diagnosed with Crohns. I'm on 3 400 mg. three times daily. I am only 5 ft. tall and weigh 96 lbs. Asacol has resulted in decreased diarrhea, but the side effects have been bloating, abdominal pain, red eyes, and headache. Maybe I'm on too high of a dose for my size?? I'm going to mention this to my doctor. Also, I had to pay $493.00 for this prescription - too expensive!!

I am 54 years old and recently had my first severe bout with Ulcerative Colitus. I am on Asacol and not sure if it is really helping or not. My MD says that this disease is not diet or stress related and they don't know what causes it. My wife and I have been doing alot of research because we believe we are the ones responsible for our health care. From what we have found out our diets play a major role in colon health and this disease can be cured or controlled once the acute phase has passed. ... We already eat a whole foods plant based diet but have taken it one step further and I started a juicing and blending diet to eliminate the stress of digestion on my colon and allow it to heal. My goal is to be able to eliminate the use of the Asacol and let my body do what it was disigned to do. I am interested in hearing if any one else is taking a natural approach to healing this disease and how its going. Take care and God Bless. Read More Read Less

This medication is very easy to take. I only need 2 pills per day. Lialda has kept me symptom free.

I was diagnosed 5 months ago and immediately put on Lialda 2 (1200mg pills), in the morning once a day. Within a few days I was in remission with no symptoms at all.

I have been on this for about 20 months as a maintenance treatment for lymphocytic colitis. While I still have some pain and 3 to 5 bowel movements a day, I have not had an attack of severe diarrhea, vomiting, and 103 fever for about 18 months. No real significant side effect noted.

I was diagnosed with Crohns about 4 months ago and I was taking Pentasa 4 times a day for about 2 months. Then after the 2 months I am now able to reduce my dosage to only 3 times a day. Then at the end of this month my doctor says I may be able to move down to 2. It worked very well for me.

I've been on ASAcol since being stabilized with pres. steroids for a couple of months. I'm down to 3-2x Daily from 3-3x daily. I also supplement w/Rowasa enema once a week or when i miss an ASA dose or see mucus in stool (or if the stool smells like rotting tooth tarter off dental floss). This seems to help from going into a full blown relapse w/blood. I've gained all my weight back after 10-years of UC on the descending colon. My last scopy reveled no UC EXCEPT for chronoicity, so i'm very... happy as i was almost at the 10-year UC-cancer danger stage. My doctor says that if you have to be on a med, this is the best one you can be on as it has very few harmful side effects and many beneficial ones as well since it is an aspirin direvitive. I ALSO try to eat as much organic/natural and HOT SPICY food as possible and have cut my dairy and meat intake down by 90% at least. It's strange, but I'VE found that the spicier the food, the less ASA I need. I use liver detox teas daily to keep the liver/colon connection in good shape as well. I highly recommend ASAcol to anyone who can use it. Read More Read Less

Writing on behalf of my husband. He was on it for about three days and was getting some results from it but also starting getting itchy/rash throughout his body. Once he stopped the medication the itchy/rash stopped. Hopefully there is something he can take in place of Asacol.
