I have Crohns. Lialda has cut down my bathroom trips quite a bit. I've been taking it for 2 weeks now. I'm not very good at noticing side effects, but it seems fine

This medicine helped decrease the number of bathroom trips but I saw no change in the stomach cramping and bleeding/mucous issues with this disease. I had a very hard time taking 9 pills a day on top of all the other meds I take for other autoimmune issues. I have since switched to Lialda (2 pills a day) which is basically a the same drug with a suspended release and I find it works better for me because I don't miss doses.

Lialda has worked well for me, but I was wondering if it would cause weight gain? Have other people found this with this medication?

Diagnosed with Crohn's in 1991. After my second surgery in March of this year started taking this medication only two weeks ago and there is a notable difference in my pain level and swelling. Gradually eating what I want. I think we've finally got it right this time.

If I've learned anything from this condition it's that everyone is affected differently. For me asacol has only reduced the number of visits to the bathroom, but not by much. I still bleed and gas is still highly present. Make sure you pay attention to your diet as well, this helps manage the symptoms. I'm starting to figure out which foods make me bleed. Good Luck.

The medicine had no effect on my colitis and it was difficult to use since I live in the bathroom.

I have been taking Asacol-800 mgx3/day for (fortunately mild)Crohns Disease for about 2 years now, and when I have no symptoms, I have trouble remembering to take the pills. Then I get bloody diarreah, and then start taking the pills again, and then I get constipated. Then sometimes, I get severe abdominal pain and a fever. Other than the cosstipation, I have no dierct side effects, and I know if I were better at remembering to consistantly take the medication, I would probably not have these... problems. But when the Crohn's flares, and I'm constipated at the same time, I cannot take a laxitive without unbearable pain, and I'm really frusterated! Read More Read Less

I have been living with UC for 11 years now, and have been prescribed everything from asacol to sulfazine. I ALWAYS would skim the area EVERYWHERE for the bathroom, for the " just in case" moments. I started the medication once before, with a great response, but i was way to expensive to buy if not approved under your insurance. So i went to an other medication. Did not have the same effect as the lialda. Have been on it now about a month and really enjoy not having to rush to the bathroom ... with a thirty second warning. Lialda works for me , hope it works for you too !! Read More Read Less

Have had Ulcerative Colitis for 20 years and have been on EVERYTHING! Was on Remicade but had to stop because of $$$. Having a huge flare so doc put me on Asacol and a Medrol pack and it has done nothing for me at all. Now ging to try Entocort starting today. Wish me luck!

Asacol works well at higher doses, however, the cost makes it prohibitive.

I have UC and suffered a year long flare up. Asacol was not keeping it at bay, Prednisone was no longer able to put it into remission. Went on Remicade which was fantastic and on Apriso for a daily maintenance. It's easy since it's only once a day and it seems to be OK. I'm about an 8 out of 10 for symptoms, so no complaints. I really can tell the difference when I forgot to take my pills in the morning. I would recommend giving Apriso a try.

Just diagnoses w/UC and was put on Lialda (4 pills/day) Although not completely pain free several days later, I feel MUCH better. It is expensive and hopefully I will be able to reduce the dosage soon.
