I had extreme headaches while taking this medication. The dosage was fine if it weren't for the side effects!

Diagnosed with UC 10/26/09, started Lialda (4XDay)same day. Not symptom free, but much better! Samples provided by Dr smelled like skunk! Dr said may be from sitting in reps car in summer? Med from pharmacy doesn't smell. I was ill for almost 3 mos before diagnosis, so I am very happy with this med. Just extremely tired all the time.

I have been sick for 12 years and finally diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and also celiac disease which makes it hard on a diet for me. I have been on this med for 3 weeks and it causes nausea and has not changed my bathroom habits of 20 or more trips per day. I am gluten free now also with no change.

I am in my late 50's and have had colitis since my 20's. Was first on Azulfadine and that worked, but you had to take a lot of pills each day and they were hard to swallow. Then I was put on Asacol. Didn't work for me. I have been on Lailda for well over five years. I have kidney pain and infections and developed kidney stones. I have tremors in my hands and have difficulty writing. Recently I have struggled with nausea and I have "shredded" and bloody diareah. I am due for my annual col... onoscopy this month and am going to ask to be taken off the drug. Read More Read Less

I have had three treatments so far for ulcerative colitis, in treatment for 6mos. no bleeding now,but medication of mecaptopurine is constipating and ,arthritis to flareup, and two knee replacements I have,it causes inflamation, swelling, I also must use Canasa suppository for rectum healing. I hope I can use a probitic I have read about here, from one user that had success with this.

55-y/o female with Ulcerative colitis for 30 years, currently with mild symptoms of flare-up and mild inflammation evident on colonoscopy; started Pentasa 500mg, 2 pills 4x/day. After 1st dose, had some diarrhea within 2 hours. After second dose, started having increasing diarrhea and watery stools. After third dose, abdominal pain, nausea, light-headedness, back pain (in the area of kidneys) along with increased frequency of watery stools. After 4th dose, couldn't leave the house. Stopped med... . It took two days for diarrhea and nausea to end. Spent another 3 days off med and tried again, this time 1 pill 3x/day. Same thing happened. I obviously cannot tolerate this drug. Have started Sulfasalazine and will see how that goes. Read More Read Less

My doctor put me on Asacol for about 5 months after a bad flare up sent me to the hospital. I hated it. I had to take 9 pills a day and experienced A LOT of hair loss!! I am currently on Lialda and like it much better.

I have been on Lialda for about 3 months now. In the beginning i was having headaches but they have stopped. I have also been feeling very tired while on this drug. Other then that I have had no major side effects. I was on Asacol for a couple of months (9 pills a day) but hated it. Lialda has been working for me. I am currently on 4 pills of Lialda a day and hope to scale back to 1 or 2 per day.

Very good drug. I used it once I achieved remission. However, it was very hard for me to swallow. They are very large tablets, and the cannot be broken. I don't recommend it if you have a sensitive gag reflex. I had to switch to Pentasa, whice you can break open, making it much easier to remain compliant.

I am taking Lialda for microscopic colitis and my quality of life has definitely improved. I still have some bad days, and I still scout out the bathrooms, but I have more freedom and can now take long car rides without stopping at every rest stop!

I was put on this medication for UC, the higher dose of 4 pills caused severe joint pain. Took a year and two GI docs to discover I should not take this med. Have been off for a week feel great!!! Don't know what I'll do if I have another flair up though.

I have been taking this drug for three weeks, and my diahrea has gotten worse! I have used so, so many depends it is rediculous. I have been living with this colitis/diahrea for over a year now, and thought that I would get relief from taking this medication, but have not.

I have been taking Lialda for a little over one month and I have been pretty much symptom free. Occasionally I have some pain but overall it has worked well.

I could not live with out this drug. I satrted back to school at 45 and could not even walk between buldings without finding a restroom, sometimes had to just cut in front of people!!! I have had no side effects. i also used the enemas. I know that it sounds unverving but it really helped, was not messy and started to work right away. It is the first time that I have been symptom free in eight months.I am not sure if I will have to take it forever or not. I just go one day at a time.
