I was originally perscribed to Asacol and at my best was taking 2 pills three times a day. I would have a yearly severe flair up so we switched to Lialda which is 4 pills in the morning. Much easier to use, so far I have had one minor flair up and one major because it had been so long I forgot what it felt like and let it go too long. This like the other was caused by trying to use supplements to cure myself. Other than joint stiffness I have had no side effects. I reccomend staying active to ke... ep your joints loose. Lialda works for me and I'll stick to it hoping to decrease dosage soon. Read More Read Less

I've been taking for 14 months now & almost immediately had no pain & definetly less trips to the bathroom. Sleep thru the nite. I however take 8 daily & therefore the manufacturer won't honor the $50 discount as over recommended dosage. It is a nonformulary drug & costs more but worth it. No loss of hair. I eat fresh fruits & vegetables with caution. Life is almost back to normal.

I was diagnosed 13 years ago with chrons and was put on asacol and had great success. About 2 years on the drug started feeling \unwell. Dr. not worried. Had a bone marrow test to find out I was in enstage renal failure because of an allergic reaction to the drug. Should of had frequent blood tests but didn't. Dr. not worried. After bone marrow test found out my creatine was 728 should be 60 to 100. Now mu kidneys are poor and will need a transplant. So to all out there please insist on blood te... sts so you don't end up like me. Very few have this problem. PLEASE check Read More Read Less

Taking two tablets 3 times a day is difficult to do when you have a very busy day.It also makes for a very uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. Taking this while also going undergoing breast cancer treatment has been a real challenge! I hope it helps keep the colon cancer away!I have battling this UC for 42 years and am happy to no longer take steriods.

As a further to my previous review:(have been taking Apriso for about six months and have not had any flareups. I was taking Entocort but my doctor had me switch to Apriso and am very satisfied. Apriso while expensive is about one third the price of Entocort. I read it is for use for up to 6 months but now I see many people have been taking it for much longer. On May 27, 2011, after taking Apriso for 10 months, I had a colonoscopy and my doctor reported that my colon had actually improved sin... ce I was on the medication. I currently take 4 tablets a day and my doctor said I could cut down to three if I wanted to. I asked him about the long time side effects of Apriso and he said he knew of none. The only side effect I have experienced is joint stiffness in the morning which usually subsides within twenty minutes. I will keep taking 4 tablets a day. Read More Read Less

Just diagnosed with UC a little over a week ago. My only symptoms were slight cramps and rectal bleeding. Started Lialda a week ago and within 2 days the bleeding had stopped and I felt great. I'm taking 3 pills every morning and a package of VSL#3 DS probiotics each evening. Absolutely no side effects. I think this is a miracle drug. Apparently I had been sick for a long time but it was so gradual I didn't realize it. Hoping not to have to stay on it forever, but we'll see. :-)

I am thrilled that I do not have to run to the bathroom at random points of the day. I no longer eat lettuce or onion anything. Seems to have worked! I can say may hair seems to be greying not sure if Apriso is the reason.

I take 8 pills a day with no real side effects. I have diabetes so I have to be careful with the medicine I take together. I am having really bad flare up and after taking for 1 week, the symptoms are disappearing. I have no headaches, dizziness or nausea with this medicine so far
