Been on Pentasa for 12 years. 2x500mgm tabs am and pm to control uc. Have had no relapses over that time. Excellent, rather benign drug - have not experienced any side effects.

I felt really good while taking this drug the first week and was so happy to have found it; however, one morning I woke up to find out I could hardly walk! I had some arthritis in one knee that caused discomfort at times, but when I took Lialda it seemed to target my knees. It took a minor situation and made it huge! I am only 57 but my knees felt as tho I was 100! I verified with my doctor that the drug was the cause and stopped taking it immediately. It took weeks before my knees felt normal... again. It has been effective but I have one question. What causes a pill to not disssove and come through whole? Is there anything we can do to avoid this? It does affecdt the effectiveness quickly!! It does not happen often but when it does.....

After only 3 days I had to quit the HD. I developed 101 fever, severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, nausea and non-stop sneezing. I had taken the non-HD version about 7 years ago, same dosage, with no problems. I will not go on asacol again!

Have been taking 750 mg three times a day for the last 8 years. Works quite well. There have been a few times I have had to supplement with Entocort (corticosteroid, very good quality!) if I flare up. Always the flare-ups have happened because of poor food choice. As the years go by, there are fewer flare-ups due to the learning curve! The only difficulty I have had with Pentasa is remembering to take it after lunch at work.

Further to my last e-mail, I have now been on Apriso for two years (since July 4, 2010) and have not had a flareup. My doctor advises that I keep on taking it and said I could try reducing it to 3 tablets rather than 4 a day. I am sticking with 4 tablets. I also take the probiotic Align with the Apriso and the two have worked for me.

I took 2 tables the first day 6am, beginning 10am the diarrhea was acute, every 2 hours, which continued until the next morning by the way, by 2pm I was experiencing abdominal pain, 5pm nausea, 7pm influenza like illness. No I will not continue with this medication.

No problems at all. The drug is very expensive but guess should not complain because of the drug's effectiveness.

I was diagnosed with UC in my entire colon a couple of months ago at 7 months pregnant. Tried Lialda, but it gave me severe stomach pain. Switched to Apriso and it has worked wonders. It took about 3-4 weeks to get into remission. Not bad at all! The pills are a little hard to swallow because of size, but it's worth it to feel "normal" again!

I have been on it for over 4 years when it was "new". I have had 3 flare ups in this ammount of time and have one now but overall it is good medication, very expensive for a drug i have to take til I die but we all do what we have to do...advice..don't ever stop taking it, get a credit card just for that if you need to, but it will tear you up if you stop taking it..trust me!
