I have terrible joint pain. Is there another medication anyone was given that may have had joint pain with this medicine? I find it difficult to even lift my purse. I exercise almost everyday and since I started this med I have cut back because it hursts to even walk.

I guess this medication is working. I still have frequent bowel movements and loose stools, but no more blood or mucus.

I have been on Pentasa since about 1993, and it has kept my Crohn's in remission virtually that entire time, with no significant problems due to Crohn's, and no side-effects.

I had an allergic reaction to taking this medication and stopped use after 3 weeks. Bad joint pain, cough, swollen tongue and hair loss. 2 months later and my hair is still falling out.

I have taken this drug since the mid 90s. It has been very helpful in reducing my symptoms and keeping my disease under control. I have been in remission since 1983! Diagnosed in 1974. Lost insurance a few years ago and found a generic in Canada for $185. for a 3 month supply. (took 3-400mg. 2 times a day). Considering trying Balsalazide a generic of another popular drug for Crohn's.

Diagnosed with Acute Microscopic Bacterial Colitis, hospitalized for nine days....left hospital on Prednisone and Apriso. I weined off the perdnisone and stopped the Apriso two weeks ago due to SEVERE Hair loss. So far, doing good, no flare up of Colitis, hair still falling out.

A life saver med for me. Surgeon was ready to remove the lower colon because of persistent pain, bleeding & inflamation. 10 days after beginning Asacol and I cancelled the surgery and now a year later I am on a maintenance dose and doing wonderfully well. Years of nasty pain and discomfort GONE!

Only been on Asacol for a week. Seems to be helping my severe problem with diarrhea. They are a little large to swallow.

Just started taking this medication. Abdominal cramping better, diarrhea not as often. Hoping that this will help enough so that I can work without having diarrhea and run to the bathroom all the time. I have no bleeding, no polyps. I have been miserable for the last 3 months when this diarrhea started. Hopefully, these medication will solve my problem.

throughout my life i have had a lot of stomach problems. i've recently had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, ct scans of my pelvis and abdomon, along with a lot of blood work etc..my doctor put me on pentasa 4 days ago. my biggest inconvenience is the fact that i cannot swallow large pills, which pentasa is. my doctor told me i could open the pill up and put it on a spoon with apple sauce, pudding, ice cream and what have you. i take 2 capsules 4 times a day. i know the medication doesn't absorb into y... our blood and just sits in your colon. this morning i noticed some of the beads from inside the capsule in my stool. is this supposed to be happening? i feel like i would have noticed this on day 1? i need to call my doctor when he returns to his office, but needed some peace of mind until then & was curious if anyone else is on the same boat as me.
